Emerald found herself sitting alone at the edge of the Old Pier. The wind was picking up now, as the sun began to set and night drew closer. She wriggled her way into her old blue and green checkered jacket and zipped it up to her neck.

Looking out at the sea, well what was left of the sea, seeing as the tide was out at the present time, she couldn't help but let her thoughts drift like the waves, back to the past, back to the orphanage.
She often wondered what would have happened, or what she would be doing right now if she'd stayed at the children's home, but obviously she would never go back. No, she definitely did not regret leaving and coming to live on the streets of Brighton.

The pier wasn't at all that high, and she could easily jump from where she was sat, with her legs dangling over the edge, so she wasn't all to worried if she fell. Tucking her fringe behind her ears as the wind blew it into her face she turned around to see if she could spot anyone else around. This was Northern territory, but she couldn't seem to find any of her fellow Northerners around. She hoped somebody was nearby, she didn't really like being alone for too long, although she was used to it.

Click, clack, click, clack... Michael kicked a can on a bored manner on his way to the Old Pier. He hadn't seen any of the Northerners in a while, either, so he could use some company. Actually, he was feeling somewhat lonely right now; but there was no way he'd admit it. Oh no, no; Slash'd say a "grown up" man like him didn't need others at all, and that he was perfectly fine, that he was too strong and awesome; but the truth was different. Everyone that he had cared for or had cared for him was now gone. And he was alone. Alone in this dark and twisted world... but he wouldn't let that stop him -- one day he would make a name for himself, and nothing would get on his way!

His somewhat depressed expression was quickly replaced for the smile of a self-confident moron when he noticed Emerald sitting there. Kicking the can one last time, he stopped, looking at the girl. "Hey Emerald!" He called, waving a hand at her and then putting it back on his black jacket's pocket.

As Emerald turned to look down the old fragile pier she noticed a figure in the distance. She hoped it was a friendly face; if anyones face was friendly. Everyone had an unfriendly side to them.
Thankfully it was someone she recognized, Slash, a fellow member of the Northern tribe, she was glad it wasn't a rival but then again, they wouldn't be seen on the old pier, unless they wanted something.

Slash was one of the first people that she had met when she moved to the Northern tribe, so she was comfortable talking to him.
Looking up at him from her position on the edge of the pier she gave a small smile, "Hello" She replied.
She brought her legs up to the edge of the blackened wood and with her arms behind her back, she heaved herself of the floor so she was standing up straight. Still, she wasn't much taller, one of the minuses of being so small. "How's everything?" She asked, not really sounding enthusiastic but she didn't mean to sound rude, she was slightly grouchy because she hadn't eaten in a few days.
